I hope this letter finds you well. I wanted to take this opportunity to connect with you and share a little of my story.
Usually, people get into their career field due to a positive experience that inspired them to follow that path, finding a mentor or a sense of calling. My introduction to real estate was not on the agenda. When my wife and I bought a home in Pleasanton in 2003. The timing was right: our kids were getting older, and we were all ready for a change. Our homebuying experience was certainly a change, although not a positive one.
While my wife Pam and I researched homes and did our homework, we noticed a lack of initiative from our realtor, who did not keep up his end of the effort. The sale of our home had some hiccups of its own, the new buyers dragging their feet in the process. Our realtor was unfortunately a passive observer in all this. Pam and I needed to take matters into our own hands, handling much of the work on our own. Right before we closed on our new home our agent went on vacation, passing us to his more attentive partner to help us close the deal reasonably unscathed.
Due to being actively involved, I became interested in the process. By doing a lot of the work on our own initiative, without the help of the agent, I realized it was something I could do. I liked the process, despite its ups and downs. Having worked for more than two decades in law enforcement, I knew there was always the potential to be injured on the job. I thought should there ever be a time where I could not be a cop any longer; I wanted to have a second career to fall back on. From our experiences in buying and selling our own homes, I started to think real estate could be that career.
While working in law enforcement, I enjoyed interacting with the public and the community, and serving as a training officer for new officers coming into the field. My passion for teaching took a new turn in real estate. I find joy in coaching my clients, especially first-time home buyers. With the constant shift in the economy, I must be aware of trends and update my clients as such. I am constantly pulling documents and helping my clients get paperwork done promptly. I value a high level of communication so I can help keep the process moving and the clients engaged. I’ve realized I love problem solving, and at this point in my career I am not scared of problems. They’re just hurdles in the transaction process, that I am willing and able to help us all leap over successfully.
In my spare time, you will find me outside much of the time. Pam and I enjoy road trips, cruises and spending time with our grandchildren. We delight in seeing our children, living their own lives. We’ve enjoyed family trips and cruises with them. At home I love to cook, grilling/smoking food, as well home improvement projects.
The venture into real estate has worked out well. After my retirement from law enforcement, I focused my efforts toward building my business. The logical next step was to find another agent I could trust to help me better service my clients. I have joined forces with a couple of other agents to form a team in order to better serve our clients together. It has been my pleasure to build my business upon referral and repeat clients.
I would love nothing more than to lend my knowledge and experience toward helping you with your real estate endeavors, but I don’t expect your business simply because of our relationship—I only ask that you take the time to interview me and see if I might be the best agent for you.
Sincerely,
Jeff Lutzinger
